At least 10 people were shot after a rally celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday.
Kansas City Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins said the victims were hospitalized. Their conditions were unclear.
A spokesman for the institution said that five people, including three with gunshot wounds, were admitted to the University Health Hospital.
Two people have been arrested after a shooting near a parking garage west of Union Station, according to a statement from the Kansas City Police Department.
The department has not identified the suspects.
In the statement, people are asked to leave the area as soon as possible to provide medical assistance to the victims.
After the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win on Sunday, thousands gathered in downtown Kansas City for a celebratory parade and rally at Union Station.
Drue Tranquill, a linebacker with the Chiefs, he asked people to join him in prayer for the victims of “this heinous act”.
“Pray that the doctors and first responders have strong hands and that everyone makes a full recovery,” he said.
The governors of both Missouri and Kansas said they attended the celebration and were evacuated safely.
