Solicitor for Kevin Morris, Solicitor Hunter Biden The lender, which loaned him millions of dollars to pay off tax debts, accuses Morris of mischaracterizing testimony he gave during a closed-door committee hearing Thursday.

“Two hours after we left Mr. Morris’s transcribed interview, you issued a cherry-picked press statement with out-of-context and completely misleading descriptions of what Mr. Morris said,” Morris’ attorney Bryan Sullivan wrote in the letter. Comer obtained by NBC News. “For your staff’s promise that Mr. Morris will be treated fairly.”

The letter calls for the immediate release of the entire transcript of Morris’ interview. The interview lasted about five hours and was attended by staff and members of the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees.

A spokesman for the House Oversight Committee said the transcript would confirm Comer’s description of the interview. “The committee intends to release the transcript soon, but we do not currently have a court reporter,” the spokesperson added.

Morris, a Hollywood-based attorney, became friends with Hunter Biden in 2019. NBC News previously reported that Morris began advising Biden Jr. in 2020 and arranged for him to pay nearly $2 million in unpaid tax liabilities to the IRS in 2020 and 2021.

Comer, who served as chairman of the Oversight and Accountability Committee after Morris’ arrest, issued a statement saying Morris’ “large financial support for Hunter Biden raises ethical and campaign finance concerns for President Joe Biden.”

“Shortly after meeting with Hunter Biden at a 2019 Joe Biden campaign event, Kevin Morris began paying off Hunter Biden’s tax liability to insulate then-presidential candidate Joe Biden from political liability,” it said. “Kevin Morris admits to ‘loaning’ president’s son at least $5 million.”

In his letter to Comer, Sullivan said the loans were being reviewed by attorneys to make sure they were correct and that he expected Hunter to repay them. Sullivan also disputed Comer’s claim that Morris loaned Hunter money to protect his father from political liability.

“This misrepresents Mr. Morris’s testimony,” Sullivan wrote. “On the contrary, Mr. Morris was worried that people like you would drag him into things like the impeachment of former President Trump, so they started helping Mr. Hunter Biden, and Mr. Morris testified that he never thought about President Biden’s campaign, only his client, Mr. Hunter It was aimed at helping Biden.”

“We do not have to present what Mr. Morris actually said in this duel. Just release the full transcript,” Sullivan added in the letter. “Why would you hesitate or fear to do so, otherwise it would disprove your fraud? Let the public see the truth.”

In a statement to NBC News, Morris slammed Republicans who want to impeach Joe Biden.

“They bring up something completely innocuous and legitimate, get nowhere and run to the cameras and make horrible noises,” he said. “There’s an elementary school quality to what they’re doing.”
