On Monday, local Arizona officials released a mug shot of Rudy Giuliani. indictment on public prosecution said that he was plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 elections in the state.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office released the footage after Giuliani was served with the indictment last month during a celebration of his 80th birthday in Palm Beach, Florida. He has he pleaded not guilty.
Giuliani was scheduled to appear in person for booking proceedings after a virtual hearing on May 21. He also confirmed that he posted a $10,000 bond in cash.
Arizona grand jury Giuliani and other Trump aides were indicted in April The investigation into attempts by Trump and his allies to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory in the state resulted in charges of conspiracy, fraud and forgery.
The so-called fraudulent voters who supported Trump in 2020 were also indicted along with former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who pleaded not guilty.
Giuliani told NBC affiliate KPNX In an interview as he left Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, he said he believed the case would be dismissed on constitutional grounds.
“This is a complete abuse of the criminal process to interfere in the 2024 election,” Giuliani said.
Asked if he regretted his actions in the election meddling case, Giuliani said, “Oh my God, no,” adding, “I’m very, very proud of it.”
Giuliani’s spokesman, Ted Goodman, also defended him in a statement, calling the charges “outrageous” and saying Giuliani would be “absolutely exonerated.”
The indictment names Trump as “Unindicted Coconspirator 1” but does not face charges. Arizona was one seven states “alternative voters” signed papers claiming Trump won over Biden.
Giuliani has also faced accusations of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgiahe also pleaded not guilty.
