Former President Donald Trump said in a new interview that he is open to some restrictions on birth control, and that he will soon announce his policy on the issue.
In an interview with political analyst Jon Delano on KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Trump was asked if he supported any restrictions on a person’s right to contraception.
“We’re looking at it, and I’m going to have a policy on it very soon, and I think it’s going to be interesting to you,” Trump said. “I think it’s a smart decision. We’ll publish it soon.”
Asked if that meant he wanted to support some restrictions, Trump said, “You know, it’s really up to the states, and some states are going to have different policies than others.”
On Tuesday, Trump said in all caps on his Truth Social website that he has “never advocated restrictions on birth control and never will.” He also added in all caps: “I do not support the ban on birth control, nor do I support the Republican party.”
