Barron Trump’s entry onto the national political scene has been delayed, to say the least.
Two days after the Florida Republican Party announced that he will be one of their at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention in July. This was first reported by NBC Newsformer first lady Melania Trump made a statement saying that she would not attend.
“While Barron is honored to be selected as a delegate by the Republican Party of Florida, he regretfully declines due to prior commitments,” the statement read. By Daily Mail.
The announcement was made Wednesday after Florida GOP officials signed off on a large delegation to the RNC convention in Milwaukee.
The Trump family’s heavy Florida delegation includes delegation chairman Eric Trump and other family members, including Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle; and Tiffany Trump and husband Michael Boulos.
Barron attracted a lot of attention because he was not a political figure before.
While most of the Trump family is involved in politics, Barron has largely stayed out. He He turned 18 in March and will graduate from high school on May 17.
Barron did not comment after being selected as a representative, and the Trump campaign did not comment when asked about his selection.
The Republican Party of Florida did not respond to a request for comment on Barron’s bow Friday. It was not immediately clear who would replace him as one of the representatives.
In an interview on Friday, Donald Trump said he thinks his youngest son is well-suited to the role he faces politically.
“He loves politics. Kind of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, you’ve got to do this,'” Trump told Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT. “So he’s a good guy anyway. He’s in high school now and he’s going to college.”
