A Colorado judge on Monday postponed a hearing that could determine whether to issue a temporary restraining order against Rep. Lauren Boebert’s ex-husband, Jayson Boebert. becomes permanent.
The delay occurred after Jason Boebert failed to appear in court. Lauren Boebert was in attendance.
A judge will now try to issue an order next week, when Jason Boebert is in court on two felony charges. A similar hearing was scheduled for early February after the temporary ruling.
“Obviously, it’s a difficult decision for me as a mother. My boys miss their dad. But I’m afraid that his anger toward me might rub off on them,” Boebert said in court Monday. “And it’s a very difficult decision to go through and I wish he was here.”
The judge presented Boebert with two more options, and he decided not to proceed. He said he could give the former couple a new court date and try to serve Jayson Boebert at that time or dismiss the temporary restraining order.
The judge acknowledged that he is unsure whether Jason Boebert plans to attend next week’s hearing, whether his attorneys will attend, or whether they will attend in person or virtually.
Boebert’s congressional office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the proceedings Monday.

The temporary order also includes protection for their children.
