Swift was the first and only female solo artist to win the award three times, tying her with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.
Other artists in the category: Jon Batiste, boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Janelle Monáe, Olivia Rodrigo and SZA.
“I would like to tell you that this is the best moment of my life,” he said. “But I feel happy when I finish a song or unlock a bridge that I love. I’m shortlisting a music video or rehearsing with my dancers or band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show. For me, the reward is work.”
Swift was nominated for five more nominations this year. On Sunday, she won best pop vocal album for “Midnight,” and during her acceptance speech, she surprised fans by announcing her new album, “Department of Tortured Poets.”
The historic win comes after a year in which Swift dominated the headlines.
