LOS ANGELES – Rapper Killer Mike was arrested Sunday after he was detained for questioning and removed from the Grammys over an altercation, according to police.
A man was detained and handcuffed Sunday afternoon in connection with a “physical altercation,” the Los Angeles Police Department said. He was later arrested and taken to the LAPD’s Central Division, dept he said On X.
Police identified the man as Michael Render, Killer Mike’s real name. He was arrested on a felony charge and was pending release, police said Sunday night.
At the LAPD post, police said the altercation happened in the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court, where the Crypto.com Arena is located.
No further details about the alleged dispute have been released.
Before noon, Killer Mike won three Grammy Awards at the Premiere Ceremony before the show, for best rap performance, best rap song and best rap album.
Reps for Killer Mike and the Grammys did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
