Actor Carl Weathers, best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies and more recently for his role in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian, died in his sleep on Thursday, his family said.
The weather was 76.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” the family said in a statement. “Carl was an exceptional man who lived an extraordinary life. With his contributions to film, television, art and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized around the world and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”
Weathers made his big screen debut in 1976 when he played Creed in Rocky. IMDb. He went on to star in three more Rocky movies. Weathers also appeared on the small screen in 1987’s Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, 1996’s Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, and The Mandalorian.
