Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he is ‘pro-choice’ and supports abortion rights

Larry Hogan wins the Republican nomination for the Maryland Open Senate seat marked a significant shift from its previous position by introducing itself as “pro choice” earlier this week abortion as he prepares for a competitive general election.

“I think Marylanders know and trust that when I make a promise to them, I’m going to keep it,” Hogan said. He told the “New York Times” newspaper On Thursday, he said he supported legislation to enshrine abortion rights in federal law. The former governor also said he plans to vote in November to approve a measure that would enshrine abortion rights in the state Constitution.
