Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was released after being hospitalized on Tuesday critical care unit This week at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center hospitalization for bladder problems.
The Ministry of Defense released information about this news release Austin was released from the hospital after consulting with medical staff at about 3:30 p.m. ET, he said. Austin resumed full duty at 5 p.m. and will work from home as he recovers, the Pentagon said.
He is expected to return to work in person later this week.
In a joint statement, Walter Reed’s director of trauma medicine, Dr. John Maddox and Dr. who heads the prostate disease research center at the hospital’s cancer center. Gregory Chesnut said Austin was in “good condition” after being hospitalized Sunday. .
They also said his treatment Monday for a nonsurgically corrected bladder problem was unrelated to his previous cancer diagnosis and “will have no impact on his excellent cancer prognosis.”
