Trump briefed about ongoing Iranian threats to assassinate him, campaign says

High-ranking US intelligence officials briefed the former president Donald Trump Tuesday about the threats From Iran to assassinate him, a spokesman for the Trump campaign said.

“President Trump was informed today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of real and specific threats by Iran to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” spokesman Steven Cheung said.

“Intelligence officials have determined that these sustained and coordinated attacks have increased over the past several months, and law enforcement agencies across all agencies are working to ensure that President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference.”

On Tuesday evening, a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence acknowledged the briefing but declined to provide any details.

Iran’s permanent mission to the UN in New York did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Harris campaign had no immediate comment.

The Secret Service stepped up security around Trump this year when the Biden administration received intelligence about an alleged incident Iranian plot Kill Trump.
