Harris accepts invitation for second potential debate in October

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign said Saturday she would accept an invitation to participate in a second debate with former President Donald Trump.

A potential debate will take place on Oct. 23 and will be televised on CNN, Harris campaign chairwoman Jennifer O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.

“The American people deserve another opportunity to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they go to the polls,” O’Malley Dillon said, adding, “Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate. identical to the format and structure of the CNN debate he said he won in June while praising CNN’s moderators, rules and ratings.

The statement came one day when Harris told supporters at an event in Georgia, “I’m trying to have another debate. We will see.”

A CNN spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In response to a request from the Harris campaign for comment on Saturday’s statement, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung pointed out a Truth Social post The former president’s “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”

O’Malley Dillon’s statement comes after Trump and Harris met for the first debate on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC.

While this was the first debate between the two major party presidential candidates, Trump also debated President Joe Biden on CNN in June, when Biden was still in the race.

The Oct. 23 debate pits Trump against Harris less than two weeks before Election Day, but early voting is weeks away in several states.
