WASHINGTON – One day after former President Donald Trump recently lied to Kamala Harris “It’s Black” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer responded Thursday, defending the vice president as a “strong black woman” whom Trump is afraid to discuss.

“Every day it’s either Donald Trump or [running mate JD] Vance makes some kind of crazy statements that resonate with the American people. “The more his poll numbers go down, the weaker Donald Trump is, and he’s afraid to take on even Kamala Harris,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said in an interview before the Senate left town for a five-week summer recess.

“She’s a strong black woman — Donald Trump may not want to say it, but it’s true and everybody knows it’s true,” she said.. “Afraid to argue with him.”

It’s a line Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate and former senator from California, has used himself on the campaign trail, saying Trump is too afraid to argue with him. “If you have something to say, say it to my face,” he said he said at a noisy campaign rally this week in Atlanta.

Trump and President Joe Biden have agreed to participate in the second debate on September 10 on ABC. But then Biden fell It came out on July 21 and Harris jumped in the race, Trump backed out of the deal. He called ABC “fake news” and said he preferred the friendlier Fox News to host the debate.

That same day, he unreasonably questions Harris’ racial identity, while also disparaging Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish American official, falsely calling him a “Palestinian” and a “proud member of Hamas.” He criticized Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin NetanyahuTrump said Schumer was a “bad Jew” and that was it Jews who support Democrats “hate their religion.”

Democrats also criticized Sen. Vance of Ohio for calling Harris, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and other Democrats “miserable” “cat ladies” in a 2021 interview. Vance doubled About these statements last week.

Republicans are “just ridiculous. The crazier they get, the less chance they have of winning the election,” Schumer said in an interview on the balcony of his Senate office with sweeping views of the National Mall.

Schumer added that Republicans are doing “weird things … weird things.” Harris and the Democrats’ last line of attack.

Pressing on how Democrats should respond to such rhetoric, Schumer said it should be bipartisan: “We have to make the American people understand how ridiculous, how blatant this group, the Trump-Vance ticket, is. But at the same time, the high road remains – we have to show the American people what we want to do for them.

“That’s one, two,” he said. “Go after them and show them the frauds they’re doing, the crazy things they’re doing, these stupid things they’re doing, these weird things they’re doing. But at the same time, don’t lose sight of the positive things we want to do for the American people.”

With Harris just days away from picking her vice presidential running mate, Schumer declined to speculate on her preferences or concerns about the choice of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. Sharpen intra-party divisions over Israel and anti-Semitism.

“I’m absolutely confident that our vice president, who will be president, Kamala Harris, will choose the best candidate possible, and I’m saying that,” Schumer said.

Pressed again, Schumer said, “Like I said, he’s going to make the best choice possible. … You know what my advice is? Make the best choice possible, so we’ll make sure we win the election and, unlike Trump, make sure that person is qualified to take over if you’re no longer president.

“I don’t think many Americans think Vance is capable of being a good president,” he said.

The past five weeks have been one of the wildest times in American politics. Biden had a disastrous debate against Trump, Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt on live television, Democrats successfully pressured Biden to resign as the party’s nominee, and Harris at the top of the ticket looks set to replace it.

Schumer pushed back against the suggestion that Americans were worried after such high-profile news, arguing that Harris was resurgent as a candidate.

“I have never seen such excitement and enthusiasm on the Harris ticket from one end of the country to the other.” “Not only Democrats — and we’re a very broad party, from the most progressive to the most conservative — are passionate about it, so are independents, and many Republicans,” he said.

“America is breathing a sigh of relief that Democrats are getting their act together. “Democrats talk about issues they care about,” he continued. “And they say, ‘Oh, thank God.’ It seems that Trump-Vance will not succeed.” They feel very good about it.”
