Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio called on President Joe Biden to suspend his re-election campaign on Friday. the fourth Democrat in the chamber Asking Biden to drop out of the race.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve heard from Ohioans about important issues like continuing to grow jobs in our state, how to give law enforcement resources to fight fentanyl, and protecting and preventing cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Continued efforts to enact a national abortion ban,” Brown said in a written statement first shared with NBC News. “These are issues that Ohioans care about, and it’s my job to continue to fight for them.”
“I agree with a lot of Ohioans who have reached out to me,” Brown said. “At this critical time, all our attention must return to these important issues. I think the president should end the election campaign.”
Brown’s challenge comes one Thursday from Sen. John TesterLike Brown, D-Mont., who faces a tough re-election campaign this fall. another Friday from Senator Martin Heinrich, DN.M. Sen. The push for Biden’s departure comes after an alarming debate performance with Trump last month about the president’s age and health and his ability to lead the Democratic party this fall. Speculation about Vice President Kamala Harris and others stepping in for Biden has intensified in recent days.
Brown, according to his campaign, will not care about the process of selecting a new Democratic candidate and believes that Biden should serve the rest of his term.

“Sherrod and Joe have been friends and political allies for many years,” Moreno said in a campaign filing earlier this month, “so does anyone really believe that Sherrod was not fully aware of Biden’s decline long before his disastrous debate performance?”
