Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Arizona Senator John McCain, has dropped her Democratic nomination for the Senate. Lake Kari and appeared to have thrown his support behind one of Lake’s potential opponents ahead of the 2024 Senate race.
Meghan McCain called Lake an “absolute joke of a candidate” when asked if she would accept an apology from Lake for her earlier remarks repeatedly disparaging the McCain family and “McCain Republicans.”
“Don’t ask people to deal with people who hurt their families and their dead parents,” McCain told KTAR News anchor Larry Gaydos.
“What I would say to him is, ‘Cinema 2024,'” he said of how he would respond to a hypothetical Lake apology.
Independent Sen. Kristen Sinema of Arizona has yet to officially throw her hat in the ring. It needs to collect about 42,000 signatures by April 1, a daunting and expensive task with less than a month and a half to go before the deadline.
McCain also called Lake “pathetic” and “fantasy”.
“Kari Lake is following Trump around like a puppy dog begging to be his vice president,” McCain said Wednesday on KTAR. “Obviously, that’s never going to happen because there’s no one named McCain in Arizona, and he’s the one who lost the election.”
The war of words between Lake and the McCains dates back to 2022, Lake’s failed gubernatorial term. a Campaign event in July 2022 Lake, of Tucson, said: “What’s not fair is that they’re trying to push another RINO. [former Arizona Gov. Doug] Ducey-McCain is cloning our throats,” referring to the acronym “Republicans in Name Only.”
Lake also said John McCain’s widow, Cindy McCain, “wants the end of America.”
“This is the Cindy McCain branch of the Republican Party. They are not Republicans. They are globalists,” Lake said in 2022.
Speaking to a crowd at a campaign event, Lake said, “We don’t have McCain Republicans here; we? Get the hell out!”
Asked about his “get the hell out” comment on KTAR News, Lake said, “It was a joke that was said a year before the election.”
“I think John McCain, who has a great sense of humor, would laugh if he heard that,” Lake said Monday on KTAR News 92.3 FM.
But Meghan McCain is certainly not laughing.
“This is not a joke,” McCain said. “I used to work on Saturday Night Live.” I know what a joke is,” the 39-year-old television producer added.
In a separate instance, Lake implied that John McCain was one of the “losers” produced by the Arizona Republican Party, perhaps alluding to McCain’s failure in the 2008 presidential election.
But McCain says the real loser in Arizona politics is Lake.

Lake is currently running as a Republican for the seat represented by Sinema. Deputy Ruben Gallego is fighting for the nomination of the Democratic party. The race was rated a toss-up by Cook Political.
