John Kelly, who wAs White House Chief of Staff During the Trump administration, former President Donald Trump has said in a series of recent interviews that he fits the definition of a fascist.
The note, posted Tuesday, was made at one of Kelly’s Interviews with The New York Times. Audio of his comments was posted online.
“Of course, the former president is in the far-right region, he is definitely an authoritarian, he admires people who are dictators – he said that. So he certainly falls under the general definition of a fascist,” Kelly said.
Kelly, who joined the Trump administration from July 2017 to the beginning of 2019 as Homeland Security Secretary and then White House Chief of Staff, also said that Trump spoke positively about Adolf Hitler.
“He commented several times that, you know, Hitler did good things, too,” Kelly said.
Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Cheung said in a statement that Kelly was “totally making fun of herself” by telling “reprehensible stories” about the Trump administration.
“President Trump has always honored the service and sacrifice of all of our military,” Cheung said.
