On Sunday, GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina lashed out at members of his own party who are supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid, telling them, “What are you doing?”
“You’re supporting the most radical candidate in the history of American politics,” Graham said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”
There are several high-profile Republicans confirmed Harris in recent weeks including former GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger and several former members of the Trump administration.
“The danger to this country is the politics of Biden and Harris,” Graham said. “His fingerprints are all over this disaster. And I can’t stand this stupidity for another four years.”
His remarks came as he faced several questions from moderator Kristen Welker about Trump’s escalating rhetoric in recent weeks, including comments he made several times last week. calls the Democrats “the enemy from within.”
At a rally this month in Coachella, California, Trump called Rep. Adam Schiff of California “the enemy within.” In a taped interview with Fox News on Sunday morning, Trump doubled down, calling Schiff “again the enemy from within” and applying the term to “radical-left lunatics.”
As Trump’s comments drew criticism from Democrats, the former president doubled down, again referring to the “enemy from within” in a podcast and appearance on “Fox & Friends.”
In an episode of the OutKick podcast, he said, “We’ve got a bigger problem from within, and they hate it,” adding, “It’s a story they don’t like.”
Graham largely dismissed the comments, telling Welker, “We’re winning and we’re going to win, not because of what Donald Trump says, but because of what he’s done for four years.”
The senator argued that Americans are looking for a change in policy ideas in this election and tied Harris to the outgoing Biden administration. “When asked by Vice President Harris, ‘What would you do differently?’ “The mind says nothing,” he said.
Graham appeared to be referring to comments Harris criticized on “The View” this month from Republicans.
When asked by the show’s hosts if Biden would have done anything differently, Harris simply said “nothing comes to mind.”
