Former President Donald Trump called rival Kamala Harris a “s— vice president” at a rally in Latrobe, N.C., on Saturday evening, marking his broader argument that she’s too liberal with a more aggressive tone and fresh profanity.
“Bernie is the radical left, and this is Kamala even further left,” Trump told a crowd at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. “And then you have to tell Kamala Harris that if you drink enough, you can’t take it anymore. We can’t stand you. You’re the s— vice president.”
“You’re fired, Kamala,” Trump added to cheers from his former TV show, The Apprentice. “Get the hell out of here.”
Trump told the crowd that profanity helps him emphasize his arguments, but so does a sharper attack personal invective last rise in a tight race in its final weeks. Trump regularly insults Harris’ intelligence, calling him “not a smart person” or “low IQ.” Pa. on Wednesday. At a rally in Scranton, she called him a “terrible person” and said she didn’t want to be good.
Harris, who was campaigning in Atlanta on Saturday, blasted Trump for being flattered in his public appearances. “He tends to go off script and wander and generally can’t finish an idea for the life of him,” he said. “And he called it knitting. But I think we call it nonsense.”
Earlier in the day in Detroit, Harris announced that Trump is unfit for the presidency.
“It’s getting more erratic and erratic,” he said. “The American people are seeing this in real time. The American people deserve better than someone who appears to be unstable.”
Trump spent the first 10 minutes of his roughly 90-minute speech telling stories about Palmer, the late professional golfer for whom the airport is named. At one point, he suggested that Palmer had an unusually large penis.
“He was strong and tough, and I refuse to say it, but when he got in the shower with the other pros, they were like, ‘Oh my God. “This is unbelievable,” Trump said.
The Harris campaign quickly fell into disrepute. Harris on Saturday portrayed Trump as too jaded for the job both are seeking, putting a partisan spin on Republican claims that President Joe Biden is incompetent. Trump, for his part, called Biden “mentally deficient” on Saturday.
Biden dropped out of the race this summer, helping Harris clinch the Democratic nomination after he stumbled badly in a debate against Trump.
“Now he’s avoiding debates and canceling interviews because he’s tired,” Harris said. Trump canceled the interview With NBC News Chief Business Correspondent Christine Romans scheduled to be taped Monday; his campaign said he would reschedule, but has yet to do so.
He also backed out of a CNBC interview and a planned appearance at a National Rifle Association event in recent days.
On Friday, during a call with reporters in Michigan, Harris took a cleaner swing at Trump because of his energy level.
“Being president of the United States is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world,” Harris said. “So we really have to ask, is he tired of being on the campaign trail, is he fit to do this job?”
