WASHINGTON – Kamala Harris’s campaign posted a video appeared to show Donald Trump with his head down a campaign event On Friday, the former president pushed a new line of attack that he was too “exhausted” to run for office.
“Exhausted Trump appears to take a nap on the campaign trail,” the Harris campaign posted on the X account with a clip of Trump at a campaign roundtable in Michigan on Friday.
In the video, Trump seemed to close his eyes and nodded. Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment on whether he fell asleep during the business roundtable.
It’s part of a series of criticisms Friday from the Harris campaign that sought to paint Trump as “tired.” Politico reporthe claimed that Trump’s adviser refused certain interviews because the former president was “exhausted”. NBC News has not independently confirmed the report.
“Being president of the United States is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world,” Harris told reporters Friday in Grand Rapids, Michigan, citing a Politico report. “So we really have to ask, is he fit to do the job, exhausted from the campaign trail?”
Harris repeated similar words that struck Trump as wearily at two campaign rallies on Friday. The Harris campaign reiterated these sentiments in numerous social media posts and press releases.
“If you’re tired on the campaign trail, it raises real questions about whether you’re fit for the toughest job in the world. Come on,” he said during a Grand Rapids rally.
After the Politico story was published, the Trump campaign’s X account criticized the reporter and compared the former president’s overall frequency of press interviews to Harris, who ran for president for a fraction of the time Trump did.
When reporters asked Trump Friday about Harris calling him tired and suggesting he cancel events, Trump said he had not, despite multiple reports of interviews. He denied that he was tired and said that he was “really excited”.
“I’ve gone 48 days without rest and I’ve got that loser with no rabbit energy. Let me tell you something. He should have been with the Catholics last night,” Trump responded, referring to yesterday’s Catholic charity dinner, which Harris did not attend. Instead, he held multiple rallies in Wisconsin on Thursday.
