PITTSBURGH – Rally for Kamala HarrisFormer President Barack Obama spoke directly to American men and described Donald Trump as a liar and egotist, saying he does not represent “real power.”
“I’m sorry, gentlemen, but I’ve noticed this, especially with some men who think that some of Trump’s behavior—hurting and putting people down—is a sign of power. I’m here to tell you: that’s not real power. This has never happened,” said Obama, causing great applause from the Democrats.
“True strength is hard work. To carry a heavy load is to complain. “Real strength is taking responsibility for your actions and telling the truth even when it’s inconvenient.” “True strength is helping people in need and always standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. That’s what we should want for our daughters and sons, and that’s what I want to see in the president of the United States.”
Obama said Harris and his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walsh, represent the “character” and “values” a president should have.
Polls show a wide gender gapIt shows that Harris wins the women by a wide margin when she is fighting the men. Some Democratic strategists worry about the risk of losing some of their own young men, Latin men and have even expressed Black men Openness to Trump or low enthusiasm for voting.
Obama especially hated it Trump spreading false claims about the government’s response to hurricane victims and expressed confusion that some people think Trump is powerful.
“I want to ask the Republicans out there, the people who are conservative, who didn’t vote for me, disagreed with me,” he said. “When did this become good? Why should we go with this?’
She added: “Even if you have a family member who behaves like this, you can still love them, but you would tell them you have a problem. And you wouldn’t put them to work. Yet when Donald Trump lies, cheats, or shows complete disregard for our Constitution, loses POWs, or calls fellow citizens pests, people make excuses for it. They think that everything is fine.”
A source familiar with his thinking said Obama is particularly focused on reaching out to African-American men in the final weeks before the election. “They are definitely the constituencies he’s going to target for the next 26 days.”
Before the rally, Obama spoke to volunteers and voiced his concerns more openly.
“We haven’t seen the same energy and activism everywhere in our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I ran. Now I want to say that it is more pronounced in brothers.
“Part of it makes me think that you just don’t feel comfortable with the idea of a woman being president, and you find other alternatives and other reasons for it,” she said. “You give all kinds of reasons and excuses. I have a problem with that.”
He urged them to “talk to people on the sidelines” and urged them not to “think about sitting on the sidelines or supporting someone who has a history of defaming you because you think that’s a sign of strength.”
“Because that’s what being a man is? Bringing women down?’ Obama told them. “This is unacceptable.”
