Sen. Bob Casey dropped the race for his Pennsylvania Senate seat to Republican challenger Dave McCormick on Thursday.
NBC News has not yet predicted a winner. The slim margins of the race led to a race automatic countdown, The results are expected to be announced next Wednesday.
“I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on representing Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,” Casey said. Video sent to X. “When the first ballots are counted, Pennsylvanians can move forward knowing their voices were heard, whether they were counted first or last.”
McCormick told Casey in a statement that he has “dedicated his career to improving our union.”
“I am honored to represent every citizen of Pennsylvania in the United States Senate, and I will fight for you every day,” he said.
