WASHINGTON – The House Oversight Committee announced Thursday that Republicans plan to create a subcommittee to work with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on President-elect Donald Trump’s recently announced advisory group. “Department of Government Efficiency.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., will chair the subcommittee for the next Congress, which begins in January, the GOP-controlled panel said in an article in X.

Trump announced earlier this month he said he has tapped two close allies, tech billionaire Elon Musk and conservative activist Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead a “Department of Government Efficiency” to help cut federal spending and regulations, a key campaign promise. “We will serve as outside volunteers, not federal officials or employees,” Musk and Ramaswamy wrote in an article published by The Wall Street Journal. “Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we’re not just going to write reports or cut ribbons. We’re going to cut costs.”
They said they were working with Trump’s transition team to hire a “lean team of small-government crusaders” for the initiative, which they said would partner with the White House Office of Management and Budget.
Green serves on the Oversight Committee after Republicans take back the House majority in 2023. He has been kicked out of committees before. After the House voted to impeach him because he spread dangerous and racist conspiracy theories.
