Former presidential candidate and one-time U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley blasted Trump World on Tuesday for being “too masculinized in this immorality” after the former president’s Sunday rally at Madison Square Garden.
The event, which took place in New York City, was welcomed by a large crowd special rapporteurs divisive, dark and sometimes offensive ones.
Haley spoke on Fox News on Tuesday the comedian’s racist jokes about Puerto Ricans and Latin AmericansA moment that rocked the Trump campaign and was condemned by many Republicans, including members of Congress.
“This is not the time for anyone to criticize Puerto Rico or Latinos,” Haley said, instead urging discipline around the campaign. “This is not the time to be overly masculine with this bromance thing they have going on.”
First of all, he criticized the decision to allow the comic to perform at the event, saying there was “no reason” for it.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Haley pointed to language used throughout the rally, as well as in other Republican ads and messaging, that she called destructive to getting women in line on Election Day. Polls show a large gender gap in this election, with more women running for vice president and Trump winning with men.
“This camaraderie and masculinity stuff is so edgy it’s going to make women uncomfortable,” Haley said.
“You have associated PACs doing ads calling Kamal the c-word or calling speakers at Madison Square Garden, you know, referring to him and his crooks,” Haley added. “This is not the way to win women. This is not the way to win over people who are worried about Trump’s style.”
Haley meant A video released for X Elon Musk’s super PAC called Harris the “c-word” and later said it was a “Communist.” The spot was removed from the American PAC account on Monday.
Haley also criticized Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, last month, saying, you need to change your path they talk about women.”
Haley said at that time, “There is no need to call Kamal ‘dumb’.” “He didn’t go that far, you know, by accident. . . . He’s a prosecutor. No need to go and talk about intelligence or appearances or anything. Just focus on politics.”
Haley’s latest comments come as Democrats seek to target voters who supported Trump over Trump in the Republican primaries earlier this year.
Haley, the GOP primary nominee against Trump, said she had not spoken to him since June. But in July He supported Trump and spoke at the Republican National Convention.
Reps for Trump and Haley have been in talks for her to potentially appear for the former president, but a senior Trump adviser told NBC News on Monday that a joint appearance is becoming increasingly difficult because their schedules are difficult to sync.
Haley added on Fox News on Tuesday that she has made it clear to her campaign that she is willing to campaign for him in battleground states, but not asking him to do so.
“His style and expression are not always the best. But his politics, I choose politics over personality,” Haley said.
