Former President Donald Trump called Vice President Kamala Harris “crazy” and “stupid” on Tuesday night and questioned whether she had an alcohol or drug problem. for the second time during the day That he made false personal attacks against his Democratic opponent.

During a nearly two-hour rally in Greensboro, N.C., on Tuesday night, Trump lied about Harris’ Oct. 7 appearance on CBS’ “60 Minutes” and said he had a substance abuse problem.

“He was very bad,” he replied. This has never happened to me,” said Trump. “He responded so badly that they changed him. They took it out and threw it away. They didn’t like it, they didn’t edit it a bit, they didn’t say anything.”

“He didn’t know where he was going,” Trump said. Did he drink? Is he a drug addict? I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know, I have no idea.”

Trump has repeatedly accused the network of deceptively editing interviews to make him sound better. In a statement issued on Sunday, “60 Minutes” refuted Trump’s claim:

“60 Minutes ran an excerpt from our interview with Face the Nation. They used a longer part of his answer than on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different part of the answer. When you edit any interview, whether it’s a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we try to be clear, precise and to the point, so his answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, allowing time for other topics in an extended 21-minute segment.”

“60 Minutes” noted that Trump canceled the interview with the program, but “Our long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open.”

The false impression that Harris was drunk gained traction in conservative circles online.

Responding to questions about Trump’s latest attack, a Harris campaign spokeswoman pointed to the vice president’s interview with NBC News’ Hallie Jackson earlier Tuesday that laid out the choice the 2024 election offers voters.

“The choice before the American people is to turn the page on division and hatred and bring our country together knowing that the vast majority of us have more in common than what divides us.” Harris said in an interview.

Trump’s personal attack on Harris was his second on Tuesday alone, and comes as he has stepped up such attacks against her in recent days and weeks.

At the beginning of the day, Trump called Harris “the worst” and “lazy as hell” on the campaign trail in Miami. At the same event, she also called him “slow” and a “low IQ person”.

At an event in Greensboro on Tuesday night, Trump repeated that “low IQ” line, calling him a “radical leftist lunatic” and saying “he’s an idiot.” He also called him “the worst vice president in the history of our country.”

For months, Trump has attacked Harris, the first female vice president in US history, citing false and harmful stereotypes about women. In particular, he zeroed in on describing it stupid or crazy.

But he has increased the frequency and tone of his abuse of her in recent weeks.

Trump at a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Saturday he called Harris is the “s— vice president.”

“We can’t stand you,” he said.

At a rally in Scranton, USA, earlier this month, he attacked Harris is a “terrible person”, a “liar”, a “radical left-wing Marxist” and “not smart”.

He said that people tell him to be kinder in his speeches, but “I don’t want to be nice.”
