vice president Kamala Harris on Saturday released a summary of her medical records from the White House physician, who described her as “a healthy 59-year-old woman with a remarkable medical history for seasonal allergies and urticaria.”
Dr. Joshua Simmons added that he treats his seasonal allergies with over-the-counter allergy medications and that his urticaria — commonly known as hives — has been treated with “allergen immunotherapy (AIT) for the past three years.”
“Notably, he never experienced severe symptoms, angioedema or anaphylaxis,” the doctor’s report added.
Simmons also wrote that the vice president eats a healthy diet and does regular daily aerobics and core strength training. He added that he occasionally drinks moderately and does not use tobacco products.
“He has the physical and mental strength required to successfully perform the duties of the Presidency, to enter the positions of the head of the executive, the head of the state and the Commander-in-Chief,” concluded the vice president’s doctor.
Harris’ last medical exam in April was “unusual,” Simmons said, adding that all his routine exams and blood tests were “normal.” The report noted that Harris’ skin was “normal except for mild sun damage in sun-exposed areas.”
Presidential candidates typically release their medical records, and presidents typically undergo annual exams.
This is the first time Harris’ medical records have been made public.
Former President Donald Trump promised CBS said he would release his records in August, but has yet to do so.
Trump’s most recent medical report consisted of three paragraphs letter In November 2023, he wrote on the Truth Social account, where Dr. Bruce Aronwold said the former president was in “excellent health”.
The letter said Trump, now 78, had undergone a series of tests that all came back “normal,” but there were no specifics about his blood test results, blood pressure, weight, conditions or medications.
