Abortion rights groups are closing in on Arizona and Nevada, targeting key battleground states in the final sprint before Election Day — where voters will not only help decide control of the White House and Congress, but also decide to codify abortion protections on the new ballot. events.
Reproductive Freedom for All, a political action and advocacy organization, is also raising resources to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and California, where people are on the ground to support pro-abortion rights candidates and policies.
The group is holding 13 voting events in critical states this weekend, according to an announcement first shared with NBC News.
“Our election program and organizational operation work tirelessly to reach people where they are — whether online or on the ground,” said Mini Timmaraju, the organization’s president and CEO.
“One of the most powerful ways we can mobilize voters is to talk to people we know in our communities, and we give our members and volunteers the tools to do that,” she said.
Volunteers across states reached out to more than 2 million members and supporters to validate voter registration to attract Gen Z supporters and voters of color. The group, formerly known as NARAL, is expected to expand its youth organizing program to community and suburban college campuses.
The organization will launch digital and telephone campaigns in swing states, emphasizing Trump’s stance on abortion.
Specifically, the ads seek to hold Trump responsible for “Georgia’s abortion ban that led to the preventable death of Amber Nicole Thurman.”
“Voters have never been more angry about abortion. They are ready to make a change and we are empowering GOTV [get out the vote] do the operation to make sure it can,” said Timmaraju.
At least 10 states have abortion initiatives on the ballot.
“We have 31 days until election day – our reproductive freedom is at stake and we can’t do anything but leave it at that,” said Timmaraju.
