Senator JD Vance of Ohio will attend a town hall in Pennsylvania on Saturday with evangelical religious leader Lance Wallnau.
Wallnau, a famous Texas-based evangelist, describes himself as a prophet. Twenty years ago, he created and popularized the Seven Mountain Mandate, a belief increasingly popular on the American right that says conservative Christians are called to positions of authority in seven key spheres of society, including business, education, media and government.
Since 2016, Wallnau and allies presented former President Donald Trump as a flawed but anointed leader – like the biblical King Cyrus – chosen by God to restore Christian rule in America. After denying Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election and telling followers that God had a plan to keep him in office, Wallnau joined pro-Trump protesters in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, praying for divine intervention to stop Congress from certifying the election. rioters attacked the US Capitol.
In recent months, Wallnau — backed by right-wing activist Charlie Kirk — has hosted a series of get-out-the-vote rallies in swing states, where he and other evangelicals have delivered a mix of political commentary supporting Trump. and a prophetic warning of the impending end times, framing the 2024 election as an epic struggle between the forces of good and evil.
Wallnau warned that Harris was being controlled by demonic forces and was using the “spirit of Jezebel” to deceive his followers.
“He might look like the president,” Wallnau said this month, referring to Harris’ debate performance on an online debate program. “It is witchcraft, I would say it is witchcraft. It’s the manipulation of images that creates an impression of the opposite of reality, but tricks you into seeing it. So this spirit, that occult spirit, I believe operates on him and through him.
A spokesman for Wallnau and Vance did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Turning Point reached out to Kirk Wallnau, who leads the U.S. and spoke at this year’s Republican National Convention.
He hosted Wallnau on his podcast, supported Wallnau’s voter mobilization efforts, and personally appealed to the Seven Mountains Mandate. Vance, along with other controversial religious leaders, appeared as GOP vice-presidential candidates.
Earlier this month, Vance attended an event at Generation Church in Mesa, Arizona, where lead pastor Ryan Visconti made anti-gay comments on social media.
