Congressional Black Caucus PAC launches ad in swing New York district highlighting Trump’s lie about Haitian immigrants

WASHINGTON – The Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee has launched five-figure digital advertising campaign On Monday, Haitians in New York’s 4th Congressional District are calling on Haitians to vote on an “act of unity against religious attacks” in November, according to a source who shared the plans with NBC News.

The district is one where Democrats hope to wrest control from Republicans to take over the House majority.

As part of the effort, the group, often referred to as the CBC PAC, released a new ad called “Unity,” featuring a Haitian-American woman and featuring former President Donald Trump’s past statements. “Every day from now until Election Day, Haitian-Americans will hear a message of progress, inclusion and unity from the Democratic Party of the American Dream,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, DN.Y. CBC is the chair of the PAC, the statement said. “While Republicans are trying to tear apart our communities by creating wild conspiracies and disrespecting our cultures, Democrats are working hard to make the American dream possible for everyone.”

The ad begins with the narrator saying, “They want to tear us apart.” It then plays news clips reporting on Trump’s past statements insulting Haitians. The narrator says, “To debase our culture and create conspiracies that harm our families. Aren’t our hustle and sweat good? Isn’t the American dream for us too? Vote this November.”

The ad ends with the narrator saying, “Remember, our unity is our strength. L’union fait la force.” The last sentence, in French, is the national motto on the Haitian flag, which translates to “unity creates strength.”

Meanwhile, Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally in Uniondale, New York’s 4th District, on Wednesday. RN.Y., whose district is facing Democrat Laura Gillen. Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, a Republican.
