Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign plans to launch a weekend of action focused on the dangers of a potential second Trump presidency and Project 2025, the conservative governance agenda that Harris has repeatedly criticized on the campaign trail and plans to push. during Tuesday’s presidential debate, according to campaign officials who first shared the plans with NBC News.

As part of what Harris aides say is the campaign’s biggest weekend to date, there will be more than 2,000 events where the campaign expects to reach more than 1 million voters. More than 20,000 volunteers and key campaign surrogates are scheduled to work to talk to voters about “Trump’s plan to ban abortion across the country, cut Social Security and Medicare, and raise taxes on middle-class families by $3,900 a year.” to officials.

The effort also aims to appeal to swing voters who may have been attracted by Harris’ recent endorsements. former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.and Jimmy McCainthe youngest son of the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

“With hundreds of offices and thousands of staff in battleground states, we’re able to capitalize on all the buzz around the debate and reach hard-to-reach voters on Project 2025,” said Dan Kanninen, state director for the Harris campaign. in a statement to NBC News. “We’re talking to Americans who are disenchanted with Trump’s extremism, and we’re confident they know that Vice President Harris’ campaign has a home for them.”

“Winning the support of Representative Cheney and Lt. Gen. McCain this week was a powerful signal to switch voters,” he said. “This weekend, we’re building on that momentum and taking our message to the voters who will decide this election in our biggest campaign mobilization yet.”

The Harris campaign also plans to hold virtual and in-person “Project 2025 messaging exercises” in battlegrounds. To date, the campaign has held more than 60 such trainings to help volunteers talk to their friends and neighbors about Project 2025. The weekend event will also feature canvas presentations, phone banks and food.

The move by the Harris campaign comes days before the first presidential debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump, scheduled for Tuesday in Philadelphia. Harris plans to bring the 2025 draft to the debate stage because he argues he is more qualified and better suited to be president than Trump, a campaign official said.

Harris campaign too It launched a new ad targeting Project 2025 Thursday, targeting far-right policy proposals developed by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation and created as a blueprint for the next Republican president, and at least two dozen Trump’s allies.

Meanwhile, Trump tried to keep some distance between itself and Project 2025, which includes more than 900 pages of policy roadmaps and a personnel database compiled by the Heritage Foundation. But many of Trump’s key allies have been directly involved in crafting the draft, which his website bills as a “governing agenda” that will “pave the way for an effective conservative Administration.”

On the campaign trail, Harris often criticized Project 2025 and linked it to Trump. In New Hampshire on Wednesday, Harris said Trump would sign a national abortion ban and create a “national anti-abortion coordinator” that would force states to report on women’s miscarriages and abortions as part of the bill. As he has done in the past, Harris said of Project 2025: “Can you believe they put this thing in writing?”
