Tennessee man charged with making threats against Biden, Harris and Obama

A 37-year-old man in the US state of Tennessee was accused of threatening President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama on social networks. press release From the Ministry of Justice.

Kyl Alton Hall was charged Tuesday with two counts of threatening a sitting president or vice president and one count of threatening a former president. Each charge carries a prison sentence of up to five years, according to the DOJ.

Authorities say the threats originated on social media platform X. The Memphis-area man allegedly threatened to “kill, kill, shoot and shoot down” Biden. He also threatened to kill Harris and Obama.

The US Secret Service investigated the case, and the case will be investigated by the national security and civil rights division of the US Attorney’s office.

A spokesman for the Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The charges come in the week when all three officials — Biden, Harris and Obama — appeared in Chicago to speak at the Democratic National Convention, where Harris accepted the party’s presidential nomination.
