Former president Donald Trump On Wednesday, he made what were billed as remarks focused on his plans for the economy, but he also made numerous remarks about President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz and windmills.

Trump spoke to an enthusiastic crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, as his allies and advisers pushes him pay attention his policy differences Stay away from Harris and personal attacks. While Trump cited several areas where the two disagreed on policy, they were overshadowed by insults from senior Democrats.

“For four years, he screamed while the economy was on fire,” Trump said of Harris. “It’s the laugh of a madman, I tell you. He’s mad.”

He also called him and Biden “idiots” and later called Walsh a “clown.”

Trump said that Wednesday’s event “is not a rally. We are talking about something called the economy. They want to speak about the economy.”

He did not say who “they” were, but added: “They say this is the most important issue. I think the crime is there. The border is there in person. We have many important issues, because our country has become a Third World country.

Trump has made some policy proposals, including a previously unannounced goal.

“Under my leadership, the United States will meet the ambitious goal of cutting energy and electricity prices in half, at least in half, in the first 18 months of the second administration,” he said.

He later added with a terse warning: “If it doesn’t work, you’re going to say, ‘Oh, well, I voted for him.’ I’m still too low’.

On Wednesday, Trump said he would lower prices with “rapid approvals for new energy infrastructure,” opening up new land for drilling and reduced regulations, which he said would make the country “energy dominant.”

The US already produces more crude oil than any other country in history US Energy Information Administration.

Trump went after the records of Harris and Biden on the economy and the border — two lines of attack that allies say should be more prominent in their stump speeches.

“Kamala declared that fighting inflation would be a priority on day one,” Trump said, “but day one for Kamala was 3.5 years ago. Why didn’t she do that?”

“He’s a critic. That’s all he is,” he said.

Trump also predicted that if Harris wins the election, “the result will be an economic collapse for Kamal, a 1929-style depression.” He made a similar prediction about Biden in 2020.

The remarks also covered numerous other touches, including criticism of windmills — Trump has said he opposes spending on wind and solar power — and a dig at Biden as he discusses next week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

“Do you know when he’s talking? It’s Monday. Monday – that’s the worst day, but that’s what they do and that’s their form – it’s just another, I think, relatively, it’s a little bit of cheating.” he said. .
