When “Saturday Night Live” returns in the fall, you won’t see Steve Martin appearing as vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.
The 78-year-old actor and comedian said that producer Lorne Michaels called him and offered him a gig, but Martin declined.
“I wanted to say no, and by the way, he wanted me to say no,” Martin said Los Angeles Times. “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.” I was chosen because I had gray hair and gray glasses.”
After Vice President Kamala Harris He announced the 60-year-old Minnesota governor as his running matesocial media users matched Martin perfectly.

One social media user said that Martin would be the “perfect host” for the show’s 50th season premiere, and that it would be a good opportunity for the actor to promote the upcoming season of Hulu’s “Murder Only in the Building.”

Martin told The Times that he would “fight” if he accepted the role.
“It’s ongoing,” he said. “It’s not like you do it once and get applause and don’t do it again. Again, they need a real impressionist to do it. They’re going to find someone really, really good.”
Maya is set to reprise her role as Rudolph Harris on the NBC comedy’s new season premiere on September 28. Deadline informed.
