He damaged the license plate of one car and tried to remove the license plate of another car in lower Manhattan, the official said.

Heymann previously posted on X about parking concerns in the Tribeca neighborhood.

The Secret Service said in a statement that Emhoff was not directly affected.

“On Tuesday afternoon, an individual approached two US Secret Service vehicles parked in lower Manhattan and indiscriminately damaged the rear license plates of both,” the statement said.

“Secret Service Agents quickly detained the individual until local authorities arrived and took the individual into police custody,” he said.
