Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon continued to cast doubt on whether Democrats can win in November “unless they steal it,” in an example of how he spread lies about election security on his way to prison Monday.
Bannon reiterated in a statement to NBC News interview Saturday he said he believes Democrats have “no chance” of winning the November election unless they “steal it.”
Bannon, a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump, has been making false claims about the 2020 election for years and appears likely to make similar claims this fall if the Democrats win.
“There’s no way the Democrats are going to win this unless they cheat,” he said Saturday.

In an interview with NBC News, Bannon also said his end game was “victory or death for this republic.”
“President Trump is a moderate in our movement,” he said, saying he believes “the MAGA movement is shifting more and more to the right by the day.”
“I think this is the next phase of MAGA — ‘America First’ was the first phase,” Bannon said. “‘Americans first’ is the second phase. I think we’re going to get there, and I think there’s going to be some big political battles about that.”
