President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign raised $10 million in the 24 hours after his State of the Union address on Thursday — a financial jolt as the campaign tries to build general election momentum from the speech.

The amount, first shared with NBC News, is a record for a Biden re-election effort, according to the campaign. And even in the context of big political fundraising numbers, it’s remarkable. Biden’s campaign and related committees power the Democratic National Committee and other party groups collected $42 million in the entire month of Januaryfor example.

A senior Biden campaign adviser said the money came through about 116,000 donations from 113,000 donors. And the total is based on Biden’s early financial lead over former President Donald Trump.

Biden’s campaign had $56 million in the bank at the end of January, the most recent period covered by public campaign finance filings, while the DNC had $24 million. Trump and the Republican National Committee had $30 million and $9 million, respectively. Both transactions involved additional funds held in other fundraising accounts.

The Biden camp is banking on early cash, unveiling the first ad of a $30 million, six-week effort to reach states swayed by the campaign’s message on Saturday. In the first ad, Biden speaks directly to the camera, admitting his age but saying he “gets it.”[s] how to get things done.” Biden then lists a number of accomplishments since taking the oath of office and contrasts Trump in the ad.

Biden’s campaign said his post-union total of $10 million came on the heels of other highs last week. The president’s campaign raised $1.5 million on Wednesday as Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee.

The campaign said its core fundraising has reached record levels for a re-election bid in each of the past four months, culminating in new hourly online fundraising records for three consecutive hours during the State of the Union.

“Ten million dollars in 24 hours. To quote the boss, it’s BFD,” Biden’s campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said, referring to Biden’s comment. off-color hot mic moment he celebrated the passage of Obamacare when he was vice president.

“Thank you to our local supporters who are more motivated than ever to re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris. The President’s State of the Union address reminded many of our supporters who fought for them and what this election cost our freedoms, rights and democracy,” Chavez Rodríguez continued, adding, “We offer our condolences. the other guy and his lame, weak campaign. It turns out that attacking women’s rights, cutting taxes for the wealthy, and undermining American democracy is not a winning message at all.”
