A neighborhood in Burnsville, Minnesota had a heavy police presence Sunday following reports of an active shooter situation.
The Burnsville Police Department confirmed to NBC News that there was an “active scene” but did not provide additional information. NBC News affiliate KARE reported on this Police have been swarming the Burnsville neighborhood since early Sunday morning.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said on social media it was responding to a scene in Burnsville with “reports of an officer-involved domestic shooting.”
Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar wrote in X that she was told three officers had been shot in Burnsville. NBC News has not independently confirmed the story.
“I learned from the police this morning that three officers have been shot in Burnsville,” Klobuchar wrote. “They were doing their job. They protected our society. John and I are praying for them, their families and the Burnsville police this morning.
“Please keep the Burnsville Police Department in your prayers this morning,” asked the public at Division X.
Representative Jim Nash of Minnesota also posted a report on social media.
“My heart goes out to the families of these officers, the Burnsville community and our country because this headline is not unique,” Nash said.
