The Republican chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee on Friday announced subpoenas against Harvard University officials for withholding certain documents related to the panel’s anti-Semitism investigation.
Representative Virginia Fox of North Carolina said the subpoenas were issued to Penny Pritzker, Harvard Corporation’s chief research officer, Alan Garber, Harvard’s interim president, and NP Narvekar, CEO of Harvard Management Company.
About 40% of the papers submitted by Harvard so far are already publicly available, Foxx said.
“Last week, I told Harvard that the documents it had produced up to that point were seriously inadequate,” Foxx said in a statement Friday.
The committee “formally opened an investigation into Harvard’s anti-Semitic behavior on campus” on January 9, the documents say.
The subpoenas demand, among other things, “all reports and related documents and communications of anti-Semitic acts or incidents since January 1, 2021.”
